Who we are
The Tucson J Stingrays are a competitive USA Swimming club team located in central Tucson at the base of the Catalina Foothills. We provide year-round training for swimmers of all ages and abilities, from beginners to elite competitors.
Our team is focused on creating a fun and supportive training environment where swimmers will build a love for the sport, a love for training, and a love for competition.
We are also committed to athlete protection and to providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for all swimmers.

The Stingray pathway
Pups
Learn the Sport. Pre-team development for swimmers coming out of group lessons.
Copper
Learn to Practice. Typically ages 7 to 10 and new to competitive swimming.
Silver
Learn to Train. Typically ages 9 to 12, legal in all four strokes.
Gold
Train to Compete. Typically ages 11 to 14, chasing Regional and State cuts.
Platinum
Compete with Purpose. Typically ages 14 to 18, training for championships.
Getting started
Is your athlete the next Stingray?
We run swim assessments at the beginning, middle and end of every month at the Tucson J. The coaches watch each stroke and recommend the right starting group.
New swimmer registration
Register with the Tucson J, set up Commit and your USA Swimming membership, and join the team GroupMe. The whole process takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

We practice at the Tucson J. Enter from River Road, by the Tucson Hebrew Academy. Park in the lot and come to the blue awning with a big J on it (the southwest corner of the parking lot). Press the button next to the door and the desk will buzz you in. Go straight down the hall and tell the people at the desk you are there for a swim team tryout; they will point you in the right direction.
